Три военных самолёта Су-27 разбились в Вьетнаме, судя по всему из-за очень плохих метеоусловии. Пока обломки самолётов не найдены, и судьба лётчиков неизвестна, хотя первоначально сообщили, что они погибли. |

Something tragic and mysterious is happening to Russian aircraft. Today we received a report about yet another catastrophe. Three military Su-27 fighters crashed in Vietnam, judging by everything, due to very bad weather conditions. For now the wreckage of the aircraft hasn't been located, and the fate of the pilots is unknown; although it was initially reported that they were killed. |

Военные лётчики выполняли перелёт из Малайзии в Россию после участия в международном авиасалоне. На прoмежуточную посадку на вьетнамский военный аэродром Камрань шли пять Су-27 из пилотажной группы, Русские Витязи. Их строй возглявял транспортный самолёт Ил-76, которым командовал генерал-майор авиации Гребенников. Во время последнего, четвертого разворота в сложных метеоусловиях с тремя машинами была потерена радиосвязъ. |

The military pilots were transiting from Malaysia to Russia taking part in an international airshow. Five Su-27s from the aerobatic group, the Russian Knights, were coming in for a transit landing at the Vietnamese military airfield Cam Ranh. Their formation was led by an Il-76 transport aircraft commanded by Major General Grebennikov. Radio contact was lost with the three aircraft as they were making their fourth turn on the final pass in adverse weather conditions. |

The Il-76 remained in the air for another half hour. But searches for the four pilots who were lost have not been successful. According to the head of the Russian Air Force, Peter Denikin, all the aircraft were in good working order and were equipped with latest navigational instruments. |

Однако, в данном случае, они оказались бесполезны. Вьетнамский аэродром, к сожалению, практически лишен необходимого оборудования. Скорее всего, в условиях низкой облачности самолёты столкнулилсь с горами. |

However, in this case, the instruments proved useless because, unfortunately, the Vietnamese airfield has practically none of the required equipment. More than likely, the aircraft hit the mountains due to the low cloud cover. |

-- Вероятное место падения этих самолётов просто невозможно подвергнуть визуальному осмотру. Но сейчас к нам на помощь пришли подразделения сухопутных войск вьетнамской народной армии. Я думаю, что и с воздуха и с земли мы всё-таки самолёты эти найдём. |

"It's not possible to conduct a visual search at the probable impact area of these aircraft. But now an infantry division of the Vietnamese People's Army has arrived to help. I think, with all that, we will find the aircraft either from the air or on the ground." |

The investigation of this tragedy is being led by a committee specially appointed by the Ministry of Defense. At 5:00 p.m., per our request, the commander of the Air Force once again contacted Vietnam. |
