Today the experts who have been investigating the crash of the passenger airliner that occurred a week ago over the Atlantic coast of the U.S. received new information. Analysis of the black boxes indicated that there had been a loud noise inside the aircraft during the 12th minute of flight. But for now, no one is saying that this was an explosion. |

A pall has been cast over the Olympic Games, the celebration of sport and arena of friendship to which everyone has become accustomed and has been eagerly awaiting. The TWA Flight 800 accident has brought to the fore questions of security, in essence turning this celebration of sport into a large scale exercise for law enforcement agencies. The fear of terrorists has turned the White House into a white fortress and the adjacent streets into solid gridlock. Тhe fear of terrorism is taking on the form of a full-fledged, organized protest. |

It happened here, at Washington's National Airport. One of the planes was preparing to take off for Houston, Texas, when a conflict between a passenger and flight attendant broke out on board the aircraft. The passenger didn't like it when she asked him to buckle his seat belt before take off. The passenger was escorted off the plane because of his disruptive behavior, but those who remained refused to fly. They demanded the plane be thoroughly searched. They were afraid of a bomb. The airline complied. The flight was an hour late taking off. |

Meanwhile in New York, the relatives of those who died in Flight 800 demanded that authorities speed up their investigation. They claimed that it was taking too long to identify the remains and that information on exactly how many bodies had been found had been contradictory. |
