В 9.30 Ан-24 Ставропольской авиакомпании оторвался от взлётной полосы, взяв курс на турецкий город Трабзон. Но уже через 37 минут диспетчер аэропорта Ставрополь забил тревогу, сообщив, что связь с воздушным судном прервана. Спустя час вертолёты Поисково-спасательной службы, поднятые по тревоге, обнаружили обломки самолёта в трёх километрах восточнee города Черкесска, административного центра Карачаево-Черкесия. |

At 9:30 a.m., a Stavropol Airlines An-24 took off en route to the Turkish city of Trabzon. But just 37 minutes later a dispatcher at the Stavropol airport sounded an alarm to report that they had lost contact with the airplane. An hour later, Search and Rescue Service helicopters that had been scrambled in response discovered debris from the aircraft 3 kilometers east of the city of Cherkessk, the administrative center of Karachaevo-Cherkesiya. |

На борту находились 41 пассажир и девять членов экипажа. Такой тип самолётов обычно обслуживает экипаж из 5 человек. Однако на этот раз на борту находились четыре стажёра, две стюардессы и двое пилота. Все они погибли. |

There were 41 passengers and nine crew members on board the aircraft. This type of aircraft is usually serviced by a 5-man crew; however, this time there were four on-the-job trainees, two flight attendants and two pilots on board. All of them died. |

Пока преждевременно говорить о причинах трагедии. Специалисты отрабатывают н еск олько версий. Однa из них -- взрыв на воздушном судне вполне вероятна, особенно если учесть, что обломки самолёта разбросаны в радиусе 8 километров. Именно на таком отделении от места падения основной части фюселяжа обнаружены хвостовая часть и один из двух чёрных ящиков. |

At this time it is premature to speculate on the reasons for this tragedy. Experts are working on several theories. One of these speculates that it is completely plausible, especially considering that debris was scattered in a radius of 8 kilometers, that there was an explosion on board the aircraft. The tail section and one of the two black boxes were found exactly this far from the area where the main part of the fuselage fell. |

По другой версии, судно развалилось прямо в воздухе и люди буквально посыпались из него. Самолёт, заправленный под завязку, потерял хвостовую часть, сорвался в штопор с высоты примерно 6000 метров. В момент падения произошёл взрыв. |

According to another theory, the aircraft broke apart in the air and people literally fell from the plane. The airplane, which was carrying a full load, lost its tail section and broke apart in a spin at an altitude of approximately 6000 meters. The explosion occurred at the time of impact. |

Пока обнаружены тела 32 человек. Их легко опознать. Членов же экипажа и тех, кто сидел в передней части самолёта ни опознать, ни идентифи ц ировать невозможно. Ничего не осталось. На месте трагедии работает специальная государственная комиссия. Поиск тел погибших и второго чёрного ящика продолжается. |

So far the bodies of 32 people have been recovered. They were easily identified. On the other hand, it was impossible to identify the crew members and those sitting in the forward section of the airplane. There was simply nothing left. A special state commission is working at the crash site. The search for bodies and the second black box continues. |
