Today, while his motorcade was passing through Grozny, an attempt was made on the life of Doku Zavgaev. Our film crew was the first at the scene of the incident. |

Сегодня в Грозном около 8.00 часов утра на пересечении улиц Первомайская и Маяковского было совершено покушение на главу Чеченской Республики, Доку Завгаева. В развалине одного из домов было заложено мощное взрывное устройство, которое сработало при прохождении колонны автомобилей председателя правительства Чечни. Вслед за взрывом из этих домов было произведено несколько выстрелов из автоматического оружия. |

Today at approximately 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Pervomaysky and Majakovsky Streets in Grozny, an attempt was made on the life of Doku Zavgaev, the head of the Chechen Republic. A powerful explosive was planted in the ruins of one of the houses. It exploded as the column of automobiles carrying the head of the Chechen government was passing by. Right after the explosion, automatic rifle shots were fired from these houses. |

В результате теракта, семь человек из охраны Доку Гопоровича доставлены в госпиталь с ранениями различной степени тяжести. Сам же Завгаев проследовал в Дом правительства, где был осмотрен врачами. |

As a result of the terrorist act, seven men from Doku Goporovich's security force were taken to the military hospital with wounds of varying degrees of severity. Zavgaev himself was taken to the Government House where he was examinеd by doctors. |

-- Эти силы, которые, как говорится, готовы не постоять за ценой, дабы на чеченскую землю не пришёл мир. Кому-то нужна война, кому-то нужна смута, в нужна напряжённостъ, нужна неопределённость, чтоб можно было решать свои какие-то честолюбивые корыстные и прочие интересы. Я буду продолжать всё для того, чтобы здесь в республике мир восторжествовал. Это моя твёрдая позиция. Это мой нравственный долг, гражданский долг. |

"These forces, which, as we say, are ready to go to any extreme to keep peace from coming to Chechen soil. Some need war. Some need disorder, pressure and uncertainty to make it possible to satisfy their ambitious, selfish and similar interests. I will continue to do everything so that peace triumphs in our republic. It is my firm commitment. It is my moral duty. It is my civil duty." |

As of this time, no one has claimed responsibility for the explosion. But the events of the last few days have given us grounds to look for terrorists among those who oppose stability, the return of peace, and the carrying out of the elections. |
